Help us create a thriving entertainment and activities hub in the centre of Liskeard.
Over the past 15 months, we here at Phluid Records have worked tirelessly to build a platform for the local community to promote and support not only original new musicians, artists & performers, but also our cherished local traders, businesses, venues, services, charities and community projects.
Over this time we have grown organically to become Liskeard’s leading WebTV and Radio platform achieving over 1.1 million hits on our websites, more than 5,100 views of our videos, just over 115,000 impressions on our YouTube Platform and 1500 hours of audio and video content seen or heard directly by our fast-growing network of almost 600 followers/subscribers across our social media.
We cannot understate the incredibly positive response we have received on all fronts, in every interaction with the Liskeard Community and surrounding region. From the traders for whom we run advertising throughout our shows and those who have so kindly provided us with samples of their incredible produce to review, to the musicians and venue managers who have supported our events and provided us with listings for our gig guides every month, to Callywith College for inviting us to review and interview the stars of their amazing dramatic performances and every one of those of you in the community who have attended one of our events, watched or listened to our live shows or contributed to our journey so far.
To-date we have done all of this with no financial sponsors, no grants and no funding outside of what we ourselves have invested, which makes it all the more gratifying to have seen such great response and support for what we are trying to do here in Liskeard.
But we could do more… and we want to do so much more.
As permanent residents of Liskeard, we are all aware of a lull in positive activity in the Town centre and that there is generally little to attract people into the centre outside of the regular market and occasional seasonal event. This has a detrimental effect across the board for all of us as a community; the shops, traders, venues and services see less foot-fall, properties therefore become vacant and the town slowly loses more and more assets to engage with and be proud of. This also has a severe cultural impact, as with less and less positive and relevant activities to engage with as a community one can only expect antisocial and undesirable behavior to arise in its place.
Through responsibly timed and managed events in the covered area “The PlayPen” ranging from musical performances to hosting markets, tabletop gaming sessions, arts/literature comic and video-game conventions, small sporting events, featured live-streamed events, magic, comedy, drama, independent film screenings, traditional New Year’s Cèilidh and other seasonal special events, we seek to inject a positive spark back to the centre of Liskeard and shine a beacon across the region marking Liskeard as the place to be in South-East Cornwall.
We need a minimum of £15,000 to secure the property and source all equipment required, so we have applied for funding from the Shared Prosperity Fund and are currently in the process of investigating further financial support from music, training and crime-reduction funds for our region, but every single additional voice of support behind our bids will be needed to aid in any potential positive outcome.
This is where we call on you to stand together with us in any way you can to help us build Liskeard something with provable, tangible long-term benefits to the whole community, somewhere for us all to be proud of, somewhere everyone can find a constructive, fun, safe and memorable experience on any given day.
Will you add your name to our growing list of supporters across the Town?
